Zelda Lorene Turner was born on June 11, 1928, in the Willow Creek Community of Robertson County, Texas, to her parents, Leslie Elmer Black and Stelma Pace Black. She entered eternal life on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Bryan, Texas, at the age of 95 years.
Zelda received her education at Willow Creek and Franklin High School. She married the love of her life, Billy Steve Turner on September 11, 1948. Zelda spent her days as homemaker, wife and mother. Her greatest pleasure was taking care of her family. Zelda and Billy lived in Houston before retiring and returning to their roots of Robertson County in 1978. Zelda was a member of the Bald Prairie Church of Christ.
Zelda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a sweet demeanor, but to the ones closest to her inner circle, she could be quite feisty. She enjoyed crocheting and anything that involved sewing. She also enjoyed her flowers and loved the chickens and frogs that always adorned her flower beds. Zelda also had a love for red birds, they were a favorite of hers. She was loved by so many and will be missed, but she will remain in their hearts with cherished memories.
Zelda was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Billy Turner on November 18, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Elmer and Stelma Black and her sister, Eva Mae Toomer.
Zelda leaves behind her daughters and sons-law, Sharon and Roy Carrigan of Franklin and Rhonda and Jerry Stover of Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mindy Turner of Franklin; 6 grandchildren: Wendy Tucker (Mike), Amy Goodsell (Jeff), Jessica Tyler (Sean), Lori Woerndel (Brian), Shelley Davis (Myron) and Courtney Soles (Kenneth). She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bald Prairie Church of Christ. Jimmy Reagan will officiate. A burial will follow in the Bald Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.
