William Maxwell
"Mack" Mcbride
Jul 7, 1934 — Jan 18, 2021
William "Mack" Maxwell McBride was born on July 7, 1934 to his parents William Mathew and Mavis Clyde McBride in Franklin, Texas, as he called it "GOD's Country". He entered peacefully into his heavenly home on Monday, January 18, 2021 with some family by his side.
Mack was a graduate of Franklin High School and was a forever Franklin Lions Football fan. He joined the Navy on September 10, 1954 and was honorably discharged on August 8, 1958. He married the love of his life Diane Allie Adams on February 19, 1957 in Bakersfield, California. He met his beautiful bride while attending church and they were married 9 days later. Mack and Diane had four daughters, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They made their home in Pasadena, Texas, then moved to Cypress, Texas, retiring to Franklin, Texas. He was a foreman and superintendent at Cameron Iron Works. Mack was always proud of "Diane's Monograming", a business he shared with his wife for many years.
Gardening was one of his passions. You could always get Fabulous Farming Facts from Farmer Mack. Who knew there were so many types of tomatoes! Once he brought 3 five gallon containers of tomatoes, 27 watermelons, and 300 eggs to one of his daughters.
His gift of cooking became obvious in 2014. He started a collection of crock pots making sausages, gumbos, cabbage, roasts and soups. He loved to feed his family, neighbors and church. Mack loved to travel. Every summer he took his family on a 2 week vacation to see his beloved United States of America. He had visited 31 states and many National Parks. Franklin Lions! Did we say Franklin Lions? He was an ardent fan. He might have missed a game, but no one remembers which one. His cousins and friends would always make sure he had a ride to the away games. As cousin Sam would say, he was a Cat because he was a lion through and through. He loved his family, community and his church. He had a servant heart and loved helping those in need.
He would say he had a good life and knew he was well loved. He loved making the morning rounds to check out Franklin, visiting everyone throughout the town square.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years and brother-in-law, Audie Moore. He is survived by brother Guy Stanley McBride, sister, Thelma Moore, his children, daughter Dorinda Faye McBride, daughter M. Elizabeth and her husband Tommy Lee, daughter Malissa Maye Johnson, daughter Diane Juanice and her husband Danny Lee, granddaughter Tessa and husband Robbie Owens, granddaughter Sarah and husband Joey Perrin, granddaughter Kendra Dunn and grandson, Matthew Johnson. Great grandchildren, Riley, Remy, Jaxon, Kaitlyn, Logan and Gabriel, nephew Scott and wife Dawn Moore and a host of cousins and adopted family.
Services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church New Baden, Texas. Freddy Burden and Ben David will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE PRACTICED.
