William J. "Bill" Barnhouse, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by
family at his Camp Creek home on Saturday December 20, 2014 following a
lengthy illness.
Bill was born near Bremond on April 24, 1937, raised in South Houston
and Austin, returning to Robertson County and graduating from Franklin
High School in 1955 before entering the service. In Germany he met and
married Rosa Boeckler, and moved to Alaska and worked as a general land
surveyor after the discharge of his original military tour. Re-entering
the Air Force, he served in Florida, Canada, California, South Vietnam,
North Carolina, Germany and Louisiana before retiring after twenty one
years. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University after his USAF
retirement, worked at the Frost Industries as a production and general
manager for several years in Shreveport before moving back to Texas.
Bill was well-read, with a sizable library and a penchant for history.
His pastimes included painting and sculpting, knife making, muzzle
loading rifles, and attending pioneer Rendezvous Camp Meets from Texas
to Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by parents, Joel and Doris Faulkner Barnhouse,
of New Baden TX. He is survived by his loving companion Bernadette
Elizabeth Burk, his sister Elizabeth Barnhouse Fern (John ); his
children Jim Barnhouse (Amy Sinclair) of Austin and his sons Jimmy and
Kyle; Eva-Marie Harris (Jackie Ross) of Granite Falls, WA and her son
Paul; Terri Schaffner(Paul) of Haughton, LA and children Rachel
Barnhouse (with children Alexis and Skyler) of Shreveport, LA and Dakota
Barnhouse of Houston TX. He is also survived by the mother of his
children, Rosa Linde Barnhouse of Bossier city, LA.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2014 at 10 AM at
Franklin Cemetery. A memorial gathering will immediately follow at
Franklin Lodging, 208 N. Center St. Franklin TX. In lieu of flowers,
the family asks that donations be made to Brazos Vally Hospice in his name.
