Obituary

Wilbern Earl "Buddy" Langston was called to his Heavenly home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the age of 83 years. He was born on September 25, 1942, in Houston, Texas to parents, Wilbern Vernon Langston and Katy Mozelle Kilabrew Langston.

After receiving his education, Buddy married the love of his life, Sue King, on October 3, 1959, in Houston, Texas, sharing 66 years of marriage.  Buddy and Sue welcomed and raised 4 beautiful daughters, Deborah, Tracy, Mendy and Shannon.  Buddy served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.  After his return from Korea, he was employed with 211 Pipefitter Union for many years before his retirement. He was a resident of Wheelock for the past 38 years previously living in Houston.  Buddy was of the Baptist faith.

Some of Buddy's happiest times were the simplicities that life had to offer. He enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren telling them stories, coffee on the porch with his family and working on jigsaw puzzles.  Buddy's highlight was to sit in his driveway on South FM 46 and wave and smile to the passers' by. This not only brought him so much joy, but it also brightened the days of those who received his kind gestures. His passing will leave a void in all the lives he touched but his legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbern and Katy Langston; sister, Glenda Dockery; daughter, Mendy Degelia; sons-in-law, Russell Mullins and Andres Acosta.

Left behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sue Langston of Wheelock; 3 daughters, Deborah Mullins of Wheelock, Tracy Acosta of Bellville and Shannon Frier and husband Robert of Bryan; Grandchildren: Tabitha Nickelson, Eric Mullins and wife Megan, David Smith and wife Shelley, Joshua Smith and wife Melanie, Zachary Self and wife Kari, Jacob Degelia, Jessica Johnson and husband Jonathan, and Matthew Frier.  He is also survived by Great Grandchildren: Colby Mullins and wife Kaitlynn, Noah Mullins, Bryce Nickelson, Cooper Smith, Georgia Grace Smith, Aiden Smith, Laycee Smith, Vivyan Self, Elijah Johnson, and Ethan Johnson; Great-Great Grandchild, Selah Grace Mullins; Nephews, Keith Tate and Mark Tate.
