Obituary

Wayland Dennis Watson went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 30,2025, at the age of 87.  He was born on February 15, 1938, in Franklin, Texas to his parents, Bland C. and Eddice Ellison Watson.

Wayland grew up in Franklin and was a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School. While attending school, he also worked part-time at Siegler and Duffey Grocery in Franklin as a clerk, stocker and butcher.  After graduating from high school, he worked at several places until heading off to Southwest Texas Teachers College, Texas State Technical Institute and Texas A&M University.  Wayland held a variety of jobs throughout his life, retiring from Vector Cable Company in Sugarland where he was employed as an inspector.  Wayland also served his country in the Army National Guard.  Wayland was a Master Mason, serving the past 60 years.  He was a resident of Franklin for the past 25 years and a member of the Robertson County Cowboy Church in Franklin.

Wayland lived a long and fruitful life and is now rejoicing with Jesus and reunited with his precious Judy.

Wayland is preceded in death by his parents, Bland and Eddice Watson, his daughter, Laurie, and wife, Judy.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Mary Lou Miller of Franklin; son-in-law, Gary Armstrong of Allen; aunt, Geneva Mitchell of Franklin; 2 grandchildren, Shawna Miller and William Miller and wife Brandy; 4 great grandchildren: Carson Miller, Jaden Miller, Constance Miller and Kason Wells.  He is also survived by numerous cousins.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.  Jimmy Sanders will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
