Obituary

Shirley Janice Sherrell Van Huss was born on September 26, 1936 in Franklin, Texas to her parents, Alle Merle Howell Sherrell and Frank Sherrell.  She entered eternal life on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Sam Houston State University. Shirley was employed as a bookkeeper at several places over the years before her retirement.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Shirley worked many hours on her family genealogy and creating a book of her family tree. She dedicated a lot of her time to the Parkinson's Support Group in Bryan.  She also was a country music fan. Perhaps most importantly, she was a Christian with strong faith in her Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Merle Sherrell and her husband, Don Van Huss.

She is survived by her daughter and favorite son-in-law, Carol Lynn and Juan Antonio Esparza of Franklin; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Ray and Cindy Morgan of Farmington, Arkansas and D. Lawrence Jones and wife Amy Jones of Bryan; 11 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Brinson and wife Jen Jones, Sergeant David Brinson, USMC  and wife Rachel Haywood, Daniel Brinson, Sergeant Matthew Brinson, USMC and wife Neah Brinson, Beth Hill and husband Jason, Angel Wilson and husband Josh, Justin Jones and wife Tracy, Joshua Jones and wife Molly, Amberle Thompson and husband Denton, Lawson Jones, Dr. Chelsea Baxley D.V.M. and husband Cory and Timothy Lang.  She is also survived by 19 Great Grandchildren and 2 on the way.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Franklin Cemetery.
