Shirley Dell
Miller
Jun 21, 1935 — Feb 21, 2022
Shirley Dell Miller was born on June 21, 1935 in Lampasas, Texas to parents, Aaron "Pete" Cummins and Jewell Henderson Cummins. She went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the age of 86 years.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Lampasas High School. She married her loving husband Bobbie Joe Miller on August 20, 1954. Shirley was employed with Hearne General Hospital and Hearne Medical Clinic in the business office before her retirement. She made her home in Hearne for the past 55 years previously living in Lampasas, Houston and Galveston, Texas. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hearne, Texas. Throughout her life she was active at the churches she attended and spent lots of time and talent sewing costumes for programs, helping with Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday School, and serving on the bereavement committee to serve meals to families.
She and Bob loved hunting, fishing, working with the Robertson County Fair Association and 4-H. They thoroughly enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up and never missed a sporting event. We could usually count on them to bring along food for a little tailgate party before the games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Miller in June 2015; her parents, Pete and Jewell Cummins; granddaughter, Kristin and siblings, Arville and Geneva.
Shirley is survived by her devoted daughters and Sons-in-law, Peggy and Randy Wooley and Susan and Ron Zajac all of Franklin; 2 grandchildren, Michael Starkey and wife Kristy and Stephanie Weaver. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Natalie, Jace, Drake and Luke; Sisters–in-law, Barbara Miller and Rachel Leanox and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Shirley's caregivers, Nellie, Eva, Annamarie, Brittany, Nickie, Patricia, Jessica and Connie. In addition, special thanks go to Texas Home Health Hospice for their love and care.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, Hearne, Texas. Pastor James Hooper will officiate.
Memorial gifts may be made in Shirley's memory to the First Baptist Church, 105 W. Davis, Hearne, Texas 77859.
