Sarah Hortence Grace was born on January 26, 1928 in Franklin, Texas to parents, William Hamilton Grace and Elizabeth Baxter Grace. She entered eternal life, peacefully, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in Bryan, Texas at the age of 94 years.
Hortence was a graduate of Franklin High School. She moved to Austin at the age of eighteen years and was employed with the Texas Department of Health as a lab technician before her retirement. She then returned to Robertson County making her home in Hearne until her death. Hortence was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hamilton and Elizabeth Grace; and Brothers, Wayne Grace, Walter Grace, Lawrence Grace, Tom Grace and Clarence Grace.
Family was everything to Hortence. Although she never had children, she treated her nieces and nephews as her own. She always saw the good in everyone and never met a stranger. She could strike a conversation with anyone around her. Her presence will be missed by all the lives that she touched.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Green and Lizzie Sanders; nieces and nephews, Paul, Sharon, Cindy, Bill, Robert, Jill, Patty, Tommy and Shirley; she is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Sylvia Ruiz for the exceptional care that she provided to Hortence for the past two years.
Services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel. Jimmy Sanders will officiate. A visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the East Owensville Cemetery in Robertson County. If you are immune compromised, we ask kindly that you wear a mask.
