Samuel Elbert Winstead, Jr. was born on January 31, 1934 in Leon County, Texas
to Samuel Elbert and Anna Belle Coker Winstead. He passed away at home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the age of 83 years. He received his education at Marquez School and married Mary Ann Corn on November 21, 1952 in New Baden, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2008 after 56 years of marriage together. Sammy was a retired truck driver, farmer and rancher. He also loved spending his time hunting and fishing. He was a resident of New Baden for the past 53 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and sister; Pauline Easterling.

He is survived by:

Daughters – Sandie Robinson and husband Keith of New Baden and
Gina Kellum of New Baden

Son – Sammy Winstead of Bremond

Sisters – Sue Brown of Marquez and
Mary B. Reagan and Husband Louie of Franklin

Brother – Bob Winstead and wife Lena of Blooming Grove

4 Grandchildren:
Sheila Steel Hughes and husband Daniel, Amber Barton Ross and husband Walker,
Steven Harold Robinson and wife Courtney and Sarah Anne Robinson

5 Great Grandchildren:
Jamey Hughes, Jacob Hughes, Annabelle Ross, Aubrey Ross and Carson Robinson

Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the New Baden Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
