Roy Malcolm Floyd was born on October 16, 1933 in Henderson, Texas to parents, Hartwell Floyd and Eva Lorene Martin Floyd. He passed away peacefully with family by his side, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in College Station, Texas at the age of 88 years.
Roy, also known as, "Pop the donut man", was a graduate of Pasadena High School. He earned his first bachelor of Theology in 1964 and earned his second bachelor of Theology in 1968. He married the love of his life, Ernestine Katharina Modinger on September 22, 1979 in Houston, Texas. Roy pastored at BroadwayBaptist Church in Houston, Texas and also worked as a trucking dock supervisor for a trucking company before his retirement. In November 2000, he and his wife, Ernestine retired and moved to spend their retirement years in Franklin, Texas. After moving to Franklin, he became the bright smiling face of Kountry Daylight Donuts, always ready to serve the community of Franklin with fresh, daily donuts until 2008.
Roy is described best as a kind loving man. He was a faithful servant to his heavenly father, pastoring his church for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ernestine, woodworking, working with tools, taking care of his yard and especially keeping all the birds fed. Pop will be remembered for his unique friendliness and will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hartwell and Eva Lorene Floyd and his sister, JoAnn Legg.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Ernestine Katharina Floyd of Franklin; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Marie Kersey of Deer Park and Sandra Margarethe Rowan and Harold of Franklin; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig Stewart Floyd and Rebbie of South Haven, Mississippi, Michael Patrick Wood and Shawn of League City; Sisters, Mary Williams of Normangee and Brenda McDowell of Franklin, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Southside Baptist Church in Franklin, Texas. Richard Lintelman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 4-6 PM at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
