Robert Owen Scrimshire, of Franklin, Texas danced his way into heaven on March 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 20, 1927, in Okema, Oklahoma to Augustus "Gus" and Hattie Scrimshire. Owen lived a life filled with rhythm, grace, and an unbridled passion for dancing, bulldozing, working in his yard and later in life, rock collecting.

Owen, also known as "Pawpaw" to many, was never one to sit out a song. Whether at a street dance or dance hall, he always lit up the floor. He touched countless lives through his love for dancing, twirling many girls around the dance floor with joy and charm.

Beyond the dance floor, Owen was known as a hard-working and kind man.  He never met a stranger, gave the best hugs, and loved to talk.

Owen is survived by daughter Nikki Bush and adopted son-in-law Mike Rinehart of Franklin, daughter Karen Callaway and husband Rocky of Franklin, and son Raymond Scrimshire and wife Veronica of Franklin, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren who will continue to dance in his honor. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Zane Scrimshire; daughter, Terry Zane Scrimshire, 4 brothers, 1 stepbrother, 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Owen's life—full of music and fond memories—will be held on March 29, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Robertson County Cowboy Church.  A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fellowship Church of Easterly, P.O. Box 516, Franklin, Texas 77856
