Obituary

Rickie Fay DuBose was born May 12, 1952 in Houston, Texas, to her parents, Jack and Willie Fay Hicks Powell and was called home to our loving Lord on October 30, 2023.

Rickie married her best friend, fishing partner, and love of her life, James "Bud" DuBose, in 1981. They raised their children Billy Russom and Shannon Dohrman in Baytown before settling in Franklin, Texas, where they raised their son Rusty Russom. She enjoyed fishing and watching the Astros play ball but above all she was totally dedicated to her family. She loved the holidays and always cherished having all of her family together. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Rickie was a longtime member of Franklin Worship Center, where she found comfort and delighted in praise and worship. She was a children's Sunday school teacher and simply loved her church family. She worked at Brazos Dental in College Station for 17 years, where she loved the girls that she worked with and was loved by many of the patients. She appreciated the employees at South Star Bank in Franklin and enjoyed treating them to let them know.

She was preceded in passing by her father, Jack Loyal Powell; mother, Willie Fay Hollis and step-father James Malrey Hollis; and grandparents, Ike & Sue Powell and James Marvin & Ethel Hicks.

Rickie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 42 years, James "Bud" DuBose; her children: Billy Russom, Shannon Dohrman and Rusty Russom; her grandchildren: Brittney and husband David Sanders, Dustin Burkhart, and Genivieve Dohrman; great grandchildren Kason and Coy Sanders; and she was "Grandma" to numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Barker; brother, Toma (wife Lori) Powell; brother, William (wife Brenda) Hollis; brother-in-law, Danny (wife Rose) DuBose; brother-in-law, Joe (wife Kathy) DuBose; aunt and uncle, Alice and Jimmy Stanley; aunt, Earlene Baker and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rickie was beloved by many… she was always there when you needed her most, gave so generously of her time and so freely of herself. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and community.
