Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Blacklock Hall

Becky was born on Thanksgiving Day in Franklin, Texas on November 25, 1943.  She was the first of six children born to Johnnie and Margie Rivers Redden.  She entered eternal life on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Becky went to Franklin schools from 1 st grade through 12 th grade, graduating in 1962.  She used to tease her kids that she was so smart that she didn't have to attend kindergarten.  It wasn't until daughter, Leticia was around 10, that she found out Kindergarten was not offered back in those days.  Becky graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 1966.   She earned her degree in Kinesiology and Math.

While attending college, she met the love of her life, Wendell C. Hall.  In July 1966, she and Wendell married and made their home in Franklin.  They were blessed with 2 children, her favorite son, Danny was born in 1968 and then later, her favorite daughter, Leticia was born in 1975.

Becky liked to be a part of the community.  She was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ, the Eastern Star Organization and she served the public as an EMT on the ambulance service when it was formed in Franklin.

Becky was employed by Franklin ISD and retired in 1999.  She was a teacher for 33 years having taught her first year at Leon ISD.  During her teaching career, she impacted the lives of many students.  She often thought of her students as her kids and would take them to various activities including student council conventions, twirling camps and UIL competitions.  In 2000, she started her next career at Scott & White and held many positions while there.  In the later 2000's, she worked as the office manager for an independent doctor.  She really enjoyed the billing and coding, but her favorite part of her job was arguing with the insurance companies.  She took her second retirement in 2014.

After retirement, she enjoyed playing bingo, dominoes and shuffleboard with her friends and traveling.  She especially loved her trips to Shreveport where she would play the penny slots.  If you knew Becky, she wasn't about to spend any big money on having fun.  She also loved keeping up with her school "kids" on Facebook.

In 2017, she and Wendell rekindled their relationship and were remarried in March of 2018.  Their kids kiddingly referred to themselves as their own step-siblings.  Becky and Wendell enjoyed traveling to Kentucky to see their son, go out with the empty nesters group at church and spending time with their family.

Becky is preceded in death by her father, Johnnie B. Redden, mother, Margie Dale Rivers Redden, granddaughter, Paige Victoria Blair, sister, Nelda Campbell, brother-in-law, David Hall, sister-in-law, Wanda Redden, niece Lisa Stephens and nephews, Doug Redden and Steven Redden.
