Obituary

Patsy Nell Lyles was born on November 3, 1934 in Franklin, Texas to the late Mildred Brewer Mitchell and James Maurice Mitchell.  Following graduation from Franklin High School, she married James G. Lyles on December 23, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Franklin, Texas.  They moved to Dallas where Jimmy completed his degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She faithfully served as a pastor's wife in several churches in Texas and Illinois until 1973 when they accepted the call of house parents at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, Texas.  She continued working at the Methodist even after illness forced Jimmy's retirement for a total of 32 years.  She resided at the Franklin Nursing Home for the last 2 ½ years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Jim Mitchell of Franklin, Texas.

Patsy is survived by nephew, Craig Mitchell and wife Christina of Bryan; niece, Tammy Mitchell Riley of Louisiana; niece Melinda Mitchell Lilly of Denton; niece Linda Kaufhold of Flatonia; nephew, Mike Mathews of LaGrange; longtime friends, Bill and Pat Dunn and children, RuthAnn Dunn Carver and Billy Dunn. She is also survived by the many friends and "Family" whose lives were changed by their love and dedication at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Franklin.  Louie Walston will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Little Mississippi Cemetery near Franklin.  A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Mississippi Cemetery Association or to the Methodist Children's Home in Waco.
