Michael Scott Maynard entered eternal life on the early morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the young age of 54 years after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer. Michael was born on November 14, 1970, in Houston, Texas to parents, Richard and Linda Howard Maynard.
Michael received his education at Channelview High School. He married his wife, Georgette, on September 27, 1994, in Bryan, Texas. He was employed with Dailey Company as a plumber and was a resident of Franklin for the past 7 years.
Michael was an avid fisherman and loved hunting in his spare time. He enjoyed being outside and in the company of friends. He loved life to the fullest and was always up for an adventure even if it was the first and last time. Michael was a man of faith and loved God and his family. He was a wonderful son, brother and husband to Georgette. Michael will be remembered for his genuine and loving spirit and his presence will be missed by the ones that knew and loved him dearly.
Michael is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Barton "Bud" and Dorothy Maynard, his maternal grandparents, Charles and Christine Howard, father, Richard Maynard, grandmother-in-law, Frances Ferguson and his brother-in-law, Robert "Bo" Turman.
Left behind to cherish his memory, loving wife, Georgette Maynard of Franklin, daughter, Makayla and husband Joe of Groveton, son, Brady and wife Maegan of Groveton, mother, Linda Blackstock and husband C.L of Groveton, brother, Barton "Buddy" Blackstock and wife Belinda of Groveton, sister, Lisa O'Quin and husband Wayne of Houston, 2 1/2 grandchildren, Cason, Joey and baby Kessinger on the way. Also, his family in love mother-in-law, Jean Essman and husband Roy, father-in-law, Robert Turman and wife Faye, sisters-in-law, Sheral Turman Hagar and husband Bud, and Becky Essman, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Essman and wife Shannon, Sloan Essman and wife Melanie. He is also survived by uncles and aunts, Lawrence Maynard and wife Stephanie, Barbara Maynard Davis, Wanda Howard, Darrell Howard and wife Kim, and Josh Howard and wife Misty. He also will be remembered by nephew, Coty Lee Blackstock and wife Jenny, nieces, Brittany Joyce Blackstock, Kasi Michelle Bartsch, and Melanie O'Quin Mills, and great nephew, Branson and great nieces, Emery, Sophie, and Conley.
Services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, Texas. A burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
Donations may be made in memory of Michael to the Pancreatic Research Foundation.
