Obituary

Melissa Ann Martin was born on March 28, 1962, in Navasota, Texas to parents John Boyd and Vera Ann McClellan.  She went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2025, at her home in Franklin, Texas at the age of 62.

Melissa graduated from Franklin High School in 1980 where she met the love of her life Larry Lee Martin. They were married on April 24, 1982, at First Baptist Church in Franklin.  She was a beloved wife, homemaker, mother, "Missy", and so much more.  Melissa could always be found helping Larry in some way; whether it was working behind the scenes on paperwork or rounding up cattle, she was his right-hand man.  The two of them made an amazing team.  She was a resident of Robertson County for the past forty-eight years.

Melissa raised 3 children with Larry, and had been actively helping raise her 3 grandchildren.  Melissa enjoyed reading, drawing, riding horses, supporting her family in all their endeavors, cooking for her family, and her Sunday School classes.  Melissa was really known for her kindness and ability to make people around her light up.  Despite fighting cancer on and off for the past 5 years, she was always taking care of other people and finding ways to make everyone feel seen and loved.  She will be greatly missed by those that loved her.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Boyd McClellan.

Melissa is survived by her husband of 42 years, Larry Martin of Franklin; her daughter and son-in-law, Larissa and Kyle Lutz; sons and daughter-in-law, Landon Martin, and Laramie and Sarah Martin; mother, Ann McClellan; brothers and sister in laws, Stephen and Joyce McClellan, Michael McClellan, James and Linda McClellan; sister, Dorothy Hughes; 3 grandchildren: Kylar, Kolter, and Kase Lutz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at the McCauley Funeral Home on Friday, January 31st from 6 pm - 8 pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 10 am at New Baden Baptist Church in New Baden with burial to follow at Easterly Cemetery.
