Mary Elizabeth
Petteway
Dec 29, 1934 — Aug 19, 2021
Mary Elizabeth Petteway of Franklin received her independence from her earthly body at the age of 86 on August 19, 2021. She was born to the late James "Jim" Galloway and Katherine Thompson Galloway in Franklin on December 29, 1934. Mary graduated from Franklin High School in 1952. Because she was small in stature, she was lovingly called Teeny. She lived the majority of her life in Franklin and had several careers while taking care of her family. She was a devoted assistant to a prominent lawyer in the community, owner of a novelty shop in downtown Franklin and worked 14 years as a secretary for the Physics Professors at Texas A&M University. After retirement she loved making quilts for family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her caring sister Ann Galloway Drehr and her cherished son James Keith "Kippy" Petteway. She is survived by her devoted son Joel Lynn Petteway of Franklin, nieces and nephews Darla Liesman (Butch) of Fort Worth, David Drehr (Sammie) of Inez, Donna Cox (Michael) of Cuero, Bill J Drehr (Jackie) of Cuero, a loving extended family and her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Graveside services officiated by Rev. Polly Standing will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 28 at the Franklin Cemetery.
Many thanks to the staff at the Franklin Nursing home and Remarkable Hospice of Brazos Valley for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Remarkable Hospice of Brazos Valley (1645 Greens Prairie Rd., Suite 401B, College Station, TX 77845 / online theremakablelife.org ) or the charity of your choice.
