Obituary

Mary Lou Green was born on August 2, 1931, in Franklin, Texas to parents, Will and Lizzie Baxter Grace.  She passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the age of 93 years old.

Mary Lou was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock.  Mary Lou was employed with the Texas Department of Human Services for over 30 years before her retirement in 1991.

She married the love of her life, Carl Green on June 10, 1967, and together they raised their two children, Sharon and Paul.  They enjoyed 20 wonderful years together before his death.

Mary Lou was a life-long resident of Franklin and was of the Methodist faith.  She was a board member for many years and presently served as President of the North Hamilton Hills Water Supply.  Mary Lou loved Franklin and always said that it was the best place to live.

She was an avid gardener in her younger years.  She enjoyed planting, picking and putting up her abundance of vegetables that her and her family grew..  Mary Lou loved to fish with a cane pole although she would never eat it.  She also enjoyed bingo with friends, road trips with Sharon and her friends to the casinos to play the slot machines as well as listening to music at the jamborees. She was an Aggie, Cowboy and Franklin Lion fan and loved to watch the football games.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her family.  She was a strong woman but also compassionate and was loved by so many.  She will remain in the hearts of all the lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Will and Lizzie Grace, her husband, Carl Green, her sister, Hortence Grace and her brothers, Walter, Wayne, Tom, Clarence and Lawrence Grace.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by, her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Layne Wells of Frankston, Texas, her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Annetta Green of Hewitt, Texas, sister, Lizzie Mae Sanders of Franklin.  Mary Lou is beloved Granny to 4 grandchildren: Josh Ainsworth and wife Becky, Brandi Green Latta and husband Justin, Melissa Green and Kimberly Green and to her 3 great grandchildren, Teagan Ainsworth, Mason Ainsworth and Isabelle Cardenas. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Cindy Wymola, Jill Specion, Patty Estrella, Shirley Mathis, Robert Grace, Bill Sanders and Tom Grace, Jr.  and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Chapel in Franklin with long-time family friend, Jimmy Sanders officiating.  A burial will follow in the Owensville Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Foltermann, Nick Smith, Mike Almon, Rich Specion, Aron Lee Wymola and Colby Sanders.

Serving as honorary pallbearers, Nester Leamon and Jim Stovall.
