Mary Foyle
Alston
Aug 21, 1945 — Feb 2, 2026
Mary Foyle Alston entered eternal life on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on August 21, 1945, in Marlin, Texas, to her parents, Cary and Mary Toland Woodall.
A celebration of life will be held for Mary Foyle, on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Calvert, where she was a member for 68 years.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Volney L. "Bubba" Alston, III and her son, Volney L. "Rusty" Alston, IV.
Mary Foyle was very active in her community, a lifelong resident of Calvert and a longtime substitute teacher at Calvert I.S.D. She also taught CPR for the American Heart Association. Mary Foyle had a business of decorating homes and churches with beautiful Christmas trees and garlands. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 19 years. Mary Foyle dedicated many hours of service to the Calvert Woman's Club and the Katy Hamman-Stricker Library.
Mary Foyle enjoyed taking care of her family, especially her grandsons. She babysat them until they started school and then taxied them back and forth from Bremond for many years after. They were truly her life. She loved dachshunds and her companion, a dachshund, Neddy Pearl, was always by her side. Every year her family would give her a dachshund calendar to hang in her home. Mary Foyle loved to read in her spare time and loved history. She had a great memory that allowed her to tell you about nearly anyone or anything that involved Calvert. To say that Mary Foyle will be missed in her community and by her family is simply an understatement. She will be terribly missed by all that knew and loved her, but her memory will never be forgotten and will remain in the hearts of the ones that held her dear.
Left to cherish her memory, her daughter-in-law, Angela Alston of Calvert and her 2 precious grandsons, Arturo and Cary Alston both of Calvert; Stepson, Warren Alston (Beth), granddaughter Savanna Alston, and her stepdaughter, Cherie Del Esclavon (Kirk) of and 3 grandchildren, Warren 'Alex'ander Coleman, Aubrey Schultz and Cody Ingram.
The family of Mary Foyle Alston would like to thank Beatrice Lopez and Constance Benson, they were her friends, companions and caretakers, for always taking great care of Mary Foyle. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to First Baptist Church Calvert.
