Obituary

Martha Zan Hiatt of Bryan, TX passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at home in Bryan at the age of 76 years. She was born on June 25, 1937 to Bill and Annie Zan in Bremond, TX. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Bremond High School. She enjoyed playing volleyball and softball.
She moved to Houston in the late 1950's where she attended business school and worked for Gulf Coast Bolt and Nut, Childress Manufacturing Company and Houston Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic as a receptionist and secretary. She met Roy Hiatt and married him October 28, 1961. They had three children, Myron Matula and Mark and Tracy Hiatt. In 1980, they moved to Franklin, Tx. Martha worked as a secretary and transfer officer in the Adult Probation Department for Robertson County for eight years. She was also an instructor for DWI offenders in Robertson, Milam and Falls Counties. She taught defensive driving classes as well. Martha and Roy worked as volunteers for the Franklin Ambulance Service and were instrumental in establishing what is now known as the Robertson County EMS. She worked at Texas A&M University in the Industrial Engineering Department as a secretary from 1988 – 1991. She ended her working career as a care giver to the elderly in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mark, Brothers; Adam, Tom, and Paul Zan, and son-in-law Stephen Polley.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Five Points Baptist Church, 9337 FM 2549, Bryan, TX 77808 at 11:00 am.
In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to any Hospice organization of your choice.
