Mar 3, 1940 — Aug 15, 2024
Judith Ann Leath Elliott was born on March 3, 1940, in Marlow, Texas, to her parents, George M. and Susie Elizabeth Short Leath. She passed from this earth to eternal life on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at her home at the age of 84 years.
Judy was a graduate of Calvert High School. She received her Bachelor of Education from Baylor University and her Master of Education from Sam Houston State University. Judy was a teacher for 40 years, teaching at several different school districts including Franklin ISD for 27 years where she taught English and served as school librarian.
Judy married her husband, Billy Ray Elliott on September 3, 1960, and lived in Robertson County for most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Calvert, Texas.
Judy was a matter-of-fact kind of person. Being a teacher, that quality was instilled in her. She expected no less from her students as well as her tribe. Even in her last days, she had instructions for everyone to fulfill. She was genuine, compassionate and a Christian woman who loved her Lord. Those that knew and loved Judy will endure a great absence without her, but she will always be remembered and never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Susie Leath, her husband, Billy Ray Elliott, aunt, Bernice Short, her siblings, John "Mecky" Leath and John Bo Leath, brothers-in-law, Freddie L. Elliott and Jerry W. Elliott, her niece, Laura Elliott and her nephew, Brad Elliott.
Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory, sister, Linda McBeth and husband Will, sister-in-law, Judith B. Elliott, nieces, Gwen Bond, Kathy DeGeorge and husband Frank, Lisa Sifuentes and husband John, Stacey Bush and husband Ken; nephews, Ken Elliott and wife Sharon, John Elliott and wife Kerri, Craig Leath and wife Cathy and Steven McBeth.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the cemetery from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
In lieu flowers, donations may be made in Judy's memory to the First Baptist Church, Calvert, Texas, P.O. Box 65 Calvert, Texas 77837.
