Obituary

John Gregory Wilkerson was born on April 21, 1946 in Abilene, Texas to parents, Harry and Ona Lee Spencer Williams.  He entered eternal life on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

John received his education in McAllen.  He married his loving wife, Linda Kay Varvel Attaway on December 17, 2001.  John was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy in the South China and Mediterranean Sea's.  Before his retirement, he was employed with the Texas Department of Corrections as a correctional officer.  John was also a reserved Deputy Constable for precinct 3 in Brazos County, Texas.  He was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ and had been a resident of Franklin for the past twenty years.

John's family was a very important part of his life.  He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.  He was also very proud to have served his country and his patriotism showed the love he had for his country.  His favorite hobbies were building thing and taking lots and lots of pictures.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ona Williams; Nephews, Justin Ferreri, Tyler Varvel and Scott Sanders and niece, Kelsey Roe

He is survived by his loving wife of almost twenty years, Linda Wilkerson of Franklin; Daughters and Son-in-law, Jennifer Wilkerson of Pueblo, Co and Kristi Jenkins and husband Scott of Elm Mott; Sons and daughters-in-laws, John Michael Wilkerson and wife Kristi of Caldwell and David Attaway and wife Amber of Gatesville; brothers, Bruce Williams and Earl Williams; seven grandchildren: Harper Wilkerson, Brandi Jenkins, Nathan Attaway, Cody Attaway, Makayla Attaway, Adyson Attaway and Tyler Hommel and mother-in-law, Pebble Varvel.  He is also survived by a host of sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws and other relatives.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Franklin Church of Christ.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.  Burial will follow in the Holly Cemetery in Ridge, Texas.
