Obituary

John Clayton Conn passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family in Franklin, Texas on Monday April 26, 2021 at the age of 59 years old.

John was born on August 1, 1961 to the late Jack Conn and Madie Threadgill. He was the youngest of 5 children. Johnny was the baby and dearly loved and adored by his family.

John married his 1 st wife, Carolyn Butler in 1983. During the 17 year marriage John was greatly blessed with three beautiful girls, whom he treasured above all else. He loved being a Daddy and poured his heart and soul into fatherhood.

John had many talents, and one of them widely known was his ability to paint and run a crew. John worked for GATX for many years, Conn's Paintworks, and worked for Bassler Energy Services for 20+ years up until his passing. He was passionate about painting and working with his hands. Through his years at work he was known for his dedication as well as admired by all who knew him in a professional setting.

On August 18, 2018 John remarried, Rebecca Smallwood-Conn. He was an honorable and loving husband. They enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping together.

John had a very strong love for God and was very proud of the relationship he had with the Lord. He was a member of the Godley Western Fellowship Church in Godley, Texas.

He was preceded in death by both parents Bob and Madie Threadgill of Calvert, Texas, Jack Conn of Oregon, and brothers Gary and Terry Conn.

John is survived by a legacy of love:

His wife of 2 years, Rebecca Smallwood-Conn of Glen Rose, Texas.

Daughter Chelsi Davis of Tomball, Texas

Daughter and son in law ("His son") - Laurami and Jason Kirby of Franklin, Texas

Daughter Kaylei Conn of Tomball, Texas

Step son Jared and spouse Joy Smallwood and their 4 children of Dallas, Texas.

Step daughter Candace Smallwood and her 2 children of Arlington, Texas.

Sharon & Tim Crider of Cameron, Texas

Donna & Tom Garrett of Calvert, Texas

Janet Conn of Seymour, Texas

Grandchildren:

Micayla, Brooklyn, Haylei, Wyatt, Cooper, Chloe and Carter

Great Grandchild to be, Everleigh

He had many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

All who individually meant so very much to him.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert, Texas.
