Joel Lynn
Petteway
Jun 18, 1954 — Mar 11, 2024
Joel Lynn Petteway, 69, of Franklin was born June 18, 1954, to Joel Petteway and Mary Galloway Petteway. He crossed over to Heaven on March 11, 2024. Joel graduated from Franklin High School in 1976 and spent his entire life in Franklin.
Joel was preceded in death by parents, his brother James Keith Petteway, his maternal grandparents James "Jim" and Katherine Thompson Galloway and Aunt Katherine Ann Galloway Drehr. He is survived by his cousins Darla Liesman (Butch) of Fort Worth, David Drehr (Sammie) of Inez, Donna Cox (Michael) of Cuero, Bill J Drehr (Jackie) of Cuero, a loving extended family and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Joel will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature and unwavering love for his family. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His family can attest that he was the biggest fan of his beloved Franklin Lions and in the past few years would watch every game via streaming. He was also an avid University of Texas fan and loved watching his cousin Marty in the 70's as he led the Longhorns to victory. He had a remarkable memory and would mention things that happened 60+ years ago that kept his family and friends on their toes and laughing.
Let us cherish the moments shared and the love Joel bestowed upon us. Though he may no longer be present in body, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Franklin Nursing Home for their loving and steadfast care, his cousin Darla Liesman who provided special care and love to Joel and his mother and brother until our Lord called each of them home, and to Rev. Polly Standing for her many visits that brought Joel much joy.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16 at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Polly Standing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Franklin Methodist Church or donor's choice.
