Obituary

Joe Annie Ramsey, 84, of Bryan, TX passed from this life with her daughters by her side on June 10, 2018. She was born on May 21, 1934 in Roswell, New Mexico to Doshia (Marchbanks) and Joe Raney. She was named after her daddy, even the spelling of her name, which caused problems throughout her life.

Joe Annie was the youngest of 5 children and grew up moving from one school district to another, so the schools would have enough students to stay open, but they always returned to Roswell. She spent her senior year of high school with her oldest sister and family in House, New Mexico where she graduated from House High School in May of 1951 at the age of 16. Joe turned 17 on May 21, 1951 and 3 months later, on August 21, 1951, she married Claude Ramsey of Robertson County, Texas, a Private in the USAF.

Joe Annie became a military wife, following Claude on his assignments when allowed and keeping the home fires burning when left behind. While living in England, she immersed herself in the culture and was able to travel to other countries which included France and Holland. She made friends at each place the family lived and was able to maintain those friendships for many years through cards, letters and visits. Upon Claude's retirement, they moved to their beloved "home on the hill" where they lived and enjoyed life for 40 years. The last 4 years of her life were spent living at The Manor in Bryan, Texas, where she continued to make more friends and excelled at winning playing Bingo.

Joe Annie Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Claude Ramsey; her mother and father; and all her siblings, Tishia Paschall, Edith Hill, Zeck Raney and Ina Aldrich. She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Janet Elaine Graef and husband, Arlon, of Taylor, Texas, Bettie Inez Glover and husband, Ronnie, of Bryan, Texas, and James Franklin Ramsey and his wife, Anne, of Loveland, Ohio; along with her grandchildren and spouses, Joshua and Misti Corn of Brenham, Stephenie Koerne of Bryan, Joseph and Laura Corn of Franklin, Kevin Glover of Huntsville, Kurt Ramsey of Bryan, Eryn and Clint Brochtrup of College Station, Jean Ramsey of Dallas, Justin Graef of Houston, Corey and Samantha Graef of Georgetown and Tyler Graef of Houston; and her great-grandchildren, William and Jackson Corn, Michelle and Joshua Glover, Austin, Reagan and Mason Corn, Gabriel, Kinley and Claire Brochtrup and Caleb and Jordyn Graef; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Little Mississippi Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all the caring people who took care of our sweet mother/grandmother at The Manor in the final years of her life. In lieu of flowers, family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association in hopes that a cure or better treatment is found for this dreaded disease.
