Joe Alton Jones passed away July 20, 2013 in Bryan, Tx. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 22, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joe was born on July 27, 1947 in Houston, TX to AJ and Dena Auldene Jones. He attended Aldine High School. Joe was retired from GATX after working 30 years. He married Mary Margaret Mitchell in Franklin, Tx. Joe lived in the Robertson County area for 44 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin, President of the Oak Grove Country Club, and a board member of the Franklin Cemetery Association

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Danita Jo "DeeDee" Jones, granddaughter; Christine Nicole Jones and mother-n-law; Mary Lou Mitchell.

He is survived by:

Steve Jones and wife Shannon of Franklin
Sister: Diane Whatley and husband Lawton of Magnolia
Brother: Perry Jones and wife of Crockett
5 Grandchildren: Rachael Jones Choate and husband Trace, Stephanie Brandon, Nicole Brandon, Chloe, and Abbie
1 Great granddaughter: Colbie Russell
Brother-n-law: John Mitchell and wife Patti of Franklin
4 nieces: Nivea, Dena, Dacaree Cook, and Abby Starkey
2 Nephews: Shane Whatley and John Mitchell IV
