Obituary

Jimmy Glen Dickson, Jr. was born on October 24,1934 in Teague, Texas to parents Jimmy Glen Dickson, Sr. and Bobbie Delaine Sandifer Dickson.  He entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Jim received his education at Mexia High School. After moving to Houston he met the love of his life, Betty June Ray and they married on July 1, 1955.  They were blessed with four children, Toni,(desceased) Dixie, Susan and David.

Jim was a self-employed business owner for over 50 years. His entrepreneurial  spirit gave him the pleasure of starting two different businesses in Houston that gave him much joy. He and Betty retired to Franklin and have lived here for over 20 years.

Jim first and foremost loved the Lord. He loved his wife and family dearly and was a thoughtful  husband as well as a wonderful father to his three children. He was a loving grandfather and his family was always a very important part of his life.

Jim was a Mexia Blackcat and always attended the homecomings and reunions with his wife, Betty. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, which most people never knew because he would only sing around his family.  In fact, singing was their favorite past time while traveling in the car. He and Betty would always enjoy the trips they took to Branson with their daughters. He loved everything about the Christmas season, the decorations, the time spent with family and all the things that make Christmas so special.  He was also very patriotic and loved his country.  He was a concerned citizen who kept up with issues concerning our state and our country and always made a point to be active and involved in making a difference. He will definitely be missed but his memory will always be kept alive in the hearts of those that loved him so much.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jimmy Glen Dickson, Sr. and Bobbie Delaine Dickson, his daughter, Toni Delaine Dickson and his brother, Ken Dickson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 69 years, Betty Dickson of Franklin, daughters, Dixie Willingham and husband Joey of Milano and Susan Petersen and husband Jeff of Cypress; his son, David Dickson and wife Lorie of Franklin; brother, Jerry Dickson of Dayton; 6 Granchildren: Jared Willingham, Joshua Willingham, Connor Petersen, Rachel Bosley, Maranda Dickson and Kyle Logan; 7 great grandchildren: Lincoln Willingham, Berkley Willingham, Junie Willingham, Emma Bosley, Lacey Bosley, Todd Logan, and Bryant McCaleb.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas. Visitation is from 12:00 - 1:00. Pastor Donald Valenta will officiate.  A burial will follow in the West Boone Cemetery in Robertson County.
