James Robert Mullins, Jr., was born on March 1, 1929 in Franklin, Texas to James Robert Mullins and Pearl Douglas Mullins.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 91 years.

James was a United States Army Veteran serving in Hawaii.  He married the love of his life, May Varnice Johnson on September 20, 1968 in Houston, Texas.  He was employed as a truck driver for 30 years before his retirement.  James was a member of the Five Points Baptist Church.He was a resident of the Wheelock community for the past 62 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Pearl Mullins; Rae Young, Ruth Brown, Morren Mays, Virginia Springer and Artie Jo Mullins.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, May Mullins of Wheelock; Daughter and Son-in-law, Barbara and Luis Herrera of Wheelock; Sons and Daughters-in-law, James Mullins and Mandi Adams of Hearne and Robert and Tanya Mullins of Bryan; Sister, Doris Johnson; Brothers, Leo Mullins of Wheelock and Tommy Mullins of Bremond; 8 Grandchildren, Gage Crenshaw, Kyle Macune, Lane Mullins, Colton Mullins, Kristine Gonzalez, Raven Arredondo, Jaymie Mullins and Cheyenne Mullins; 6 Great Grandchildren, Evalynn Macune-Cantu, Kylee Gonzalez, Marko Gonzalez, Saydie Crenshaw, Ryah Walker and Dakota Arredondo

He is also survived by a host of other relatives

Services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Wheelock Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McCauley Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 capacity is limited.
