Obituary

James Raymond Morris of Franklin, son of the late J.P. and Laura Maple Morris, was born on March 6, 1937.  He stepped into the presence of his Savior on January 26, 2023.  As a child, his family moved to several different areas in Texas, but he spent most of his childhood in the Franklin, Texas area, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1955. He fell in love with and married Rebecca (Smith) Morris, and they were married for 58 years before her passing in 2020.

He is survived by daughter Pam Branyon and her husband David Branyon; daughter Melinda McCracken; grandsons, Thomas Branyon and his wife Kathryn, Davis McCracken and his wife Kara; granddaughters, Rachel Shrode and her husband Jordan, Bailey Williams and her husband Coy; great-grandson Levi Branyon; brother Charles Morris and wife Elizabeth; sister Emilie Rabe and husband Albert, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were dear to his heart.

James was known for his signature pinstripe overalls, his love of a good joke, his love for his family, his love for the Lord, and his desire to help people whenever he could.  He spoke often in his later years of how blessed he was to have such wonderful friends and family, and he treasured those relationships as the highlight of his life.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, followed by a Celebration of Life service, both at Franklin Methodist Church (116 W. Decherd Street, Franklin, TX). A graveside service will follow at Henry Prairie Cemetery (2390 Henry Prairie Church Road, Franklin, TX).
