James Britten  "Britt" McCormick, Sr., 78, of Franklin, Texas passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, April 19, 2019 at his home in Franklin.  He was born on January 14, 1941 in Franklin, Texas to Claude B "Bud McCormick and Susie Lee Sitz McCormick.

Britt received his education in Franklin and was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation where he was employed for 35 years. After his retirement, he spent his time enjoying the outdoors, gardening, visiting his friends and helping his two sons. Britt spent most of this life in the Franklin area and the majority of it on McCormick Road.  He was of the Baptist faith and also served on the board of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Susie McCormick; his wife, Joann McCormick; sisters, Verla Mae McCormick Bates and Claudie Lee McCormick Ellison.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
