Jack Edward Cargill, 79, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX.
Jack Edward Cargill was born in 1944 in Houston, Texas. Later in his youth, he moved to Victoria, Texas where he graduated as an exceptional football player and athlete. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in Germany and Italy from 1963-1966. After his service ended, he became an Apprentice Machinist for Hughes Tool Company where he helped build the pipe and ship used in Project Azorian for the CIA. He stayed at Hughes Tool company as an assembly manager in the rock bit department. During his time in the rock bit dept. Jack broke a world record by building the biggest rock bit ever used in Production. In 1991 he moved to Los Fresnos, Texas to work for Varel in Matamoros, Mexico. At Varel Jack broke his own world record by building the largest rock bit ever used. Jack retired from Varel in 2009. Beyond his working life, Jack's greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He always prided himself in the legacy he was leaving behind. Jack spent his time after retirement enjoying the stock shows and teaching lessons of agriculture, life and the importance of saving money. Jack never missed a stock show, football or volleyball game. He loved his grandkids dearly and spent his time teaching the next generation the values of hard work, determination, and the importance of love for family.
Jack is Preceded in death by:
Grandparents, George and Mattie Meadors, Father, Paul Cargill, and Brother, Paul Cargill Jr.
Jack leaves behind: Mother, Gladys Cargill Ward, sister, Wanda Cargill Marlow and brother, Robert Puckett
Children, Nathan Cargill, Chad Cargill (Elizabeth) and Kelly Isenberger (Chris) along with 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Jack Cargill was and always will be remembered as an outstanding Father and Grandfather.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCaulley Funeral Home, 101 W. Decherd St., Franklin, Texas 77856. A Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at McCaulley Funeral Home with interment to follow at Camp Creek Cemetery, New Baden, TX.
