Glenda Strickland
Guest
Jan 11, 1946 — Jun 9, 2020
Glenda Guest, daughter of B.D. and Florence Strickland, was born on January 11, 1946 in Screven, Georgia. She passed to eternal life on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 74.
Glenda married Bill Guest on April 13, 1968 in Georgia. They spent their early years farming in Blackshear, Ga and raising their 4 children. In 1983 they moved their family to Katy, Texas and ran a successful business focused on health and nutrition. They still longed for the country and in 1993 bought land in Robertson County and began ranching. Glenda quickly became an important presence in the community and was always there to cook a meal or lend a hand. She was a friend to all. She was a lifelong Christian and her love of God shone through in the way she lived her life. She was a member of Robertson County Cowboy Church.
Glenda was an amazing cook and shared many meals with everyone who came to visit. When the family was together, she always insisted on making everyone's favorites. She was also very creative and enjoyed crafting and sewing when she wasn't bailing hay or working cattle with Bill.
She loved her family with her whole heart, but the ones she was most proud of were those that called her "Gigi". She loved being a grandmother.
Glenda was preceded in death by her Parents, B.D. and Florence Strickland and her step-mother, Fanny Strickland.
Glenda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill Guest of New Baden; Children: Mark and Jeab Guest of Thailand, Robby and Nan Guest of Franklin, Karen and Steve Brooks of Katy and Kenny and Amy Guest of Frisco; Sister: Ilene Strickland of Hortense, Georgia; Brother: Jimmy Strickland of Lake Blackshear, Georgia; Grandchildren: Connor Brooks, Kaitlyn Brooks, Caden Brooks, Carson Guest, Collier Guest, Kevin Guest and Cattherine Guest and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Robertson County Cowboy Church. There will be a time of visitation after the services for anyone that wishes to stay a visit with Glenda's family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS.org) or to the Robertson County Cowboy Church 3470 W FM 1644 Franklin, Texas 77856.
