Gladys Sanders, age 98, passed away peacefully in Dallas
on September 19, 2014. She was born in Mills County,
Texas on January 7, 1916 to Matthew Barnett and
Ruby Blackstone Barnett, and was married to
Jay D. Sanders on July 7, 1933. To this union were
born two children, Wanda Dee Kuykendall and Robert Sanders.
Gladys and her family lived in Lake Jackson, Texas for almost
thirty five years, and she retired with her husband to
Franklin, Texas in 1975. Her husband, parents and five
siblings preceded her in death. In addition to her
children, she is survived by three grandchildren,
Dee Ann Rath, Cindy Kronenberger, and Christian Sanders,
and by four great grandchildren. Gladys was for
60 years a member of Order of the Eastern Star and a
long time member of the First Baptist
Church in Franklin. In her quiet and unassuming way she
had a major impact on those who knew and loved her
and through her life made the world a better place.
Services are set for Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Franklin. Toby Foreman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin. Viewing & Visitation will be from 12:00 noon till service time at the church.
