Frances Nathaniel Steakley went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the age of 96 years. She was born on February 12, 1930, in Broaddus, Texas to her parents, James Nathaniel Stanley and Frances Bentley Stanley.
Frances was a graduate of Broaddus High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University. Frances taught mathematics in Lamar CISD for 23 years, and was highly regarded by her students. She married her husband of 50 years, Jim Wels Steakley on June 21, 1975, in Rosenberg, Texas. Frances was a resident of Franklin for the past 39 years and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Franklin.
Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was adored by all that knew her. She enjoyed nature, raising animals, gardening and living in her home in Franklin. Frances lived an energetic life to the fullest, meeting each new day with enthusiasm. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her but her memory will always be alive in the hearts of her cherished ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Stanley, her first husband Eloye Alvis Snell, her son Alvis Dwight Snell, her son-in-law Max McGee, her son-in-law Jack Edwin Boepple, as well as eight of her nine siblings.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, Jim Steakley of Franklin; daughters Sandy Kaye McGee of Richmond and Rhonda Renee Boepple of Franklin; 4 grandchildren: Ashley Page Seelye (and husband Jay), Payton James McGee, Whitney Blair Mussett (and husband Sam) and Haley Lauren Boepple. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Jack, Savannah, Leighton and Ellie.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the Franklin Cemetery.
