Obituary

Fannie Smothermon was born in Hearne, Texas on December 3, 1931, to Fannie and Leonard Scott.

She graduated from Franklin High School in May 1949 and from Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University) in San Marcos with a BS degree in Education in 1952.

Fannie married William Charles Smothermon on April 13, 1952.

She is survived by five children: William Charles Smothermon, Jr. of Coppell, Texas, Charlotte Marie Baker and husband Michael of Oahu, Hawaii, Leonard Earl Smothermon and wife Kiyomi of Oahu, Hawaii, Nancy Jean Alvarez of Georgetown, Texas and Andrew Ross Smothermon of Georgetown, Texas.

Grandchildren: Kirsten Woodruff, David Trenton Tant and wife Tara, Melinda Helsley and husband, Jeff, Eric Smothermon, William Charles Smothermon III (Trey) and wife Wendy, Jesse Smothermon and wife Chisato, Alex Alvarez and wife Ruby and Sam Alvarez.

Great grandchildren: Jamie Woodruff, Marii Woodruff, Lily Woodruff, Joshua Helsley, Andrew Douglas, Tyler Jackson and wife Samantha, Addisyn Tant, and Hinata Raymond Sekine.

Great-great grandchildren: Clarissa Cook, Hope Jackson, Nevaeh Jackson, Allya Ximena Magaña, Trenton Lea.

She is preceded in death by husband William Charles Smothermon, daughter Beverly Ann Smothermon, sister Nelda Williams, daughter-in-law Peggi Smothermon, daughter-in-law Sherry Smothermon, and grandson-in-law Rodney Woodruff.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Franklin Cemetery 118 South Street Franklin, Texas 77856.
