Erwin Ulric
Reagan
Apr 29, 1938 — Dec 4, 2025
Erwin Ulric Reagan went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on April 29, 1938, in the Bald Prairie Community to his parents, John Calvin "J.C." and Christine Neyland Reagan.
Erwin was a graduate of Franklin High School where he played football for the Franklin Lions. He attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a master's degree in education. While at Sam Houston State he was enrolled in the Reserve Officers Training Corps Program and enlisted in the United States Army after graduating. He was stationed in Germany while fulfilling his ROTC enlistment requirements and served in an artillery company. After serving he had a fulfilling and exciting career as a teacher and coach that spanned over 2 decades. Erwin spent most of his career, 19 years, as a teacher and head football coach for Normangee High School. After retirement, he spent his days on his cattle ranch, managing the land and animals.
He married his wife, Jewel Yvonne Smith in June 1976. He spent most of his life in Bald Prairie and Marquez and was a member of the Marquez Baptist Church. Erwin loved football, whether it was as a coach or a fan just watching a game. Saturdays were generally for getting ranch work done, but during football season he would often ease up on the work to enjoy college football on TV. Sunday afternoons after church watching NFL games were a staple around the Reagan household, as was Monday Night Football. Besides football he also enjoyed watching rodeos, especially bull riding, and fishing. Erwin would take his grandson Chris to seine for crawfish and then use the crawfish to bait trotlines in the ponds on his ranch. Between trotlines and fishing poles, he spent a great deal of time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Emma Reagan and brothers, Joe Glenn Reagan and Fred Reagan.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Boggs of Iowa, 2 grandchildren, Chris Burleson and wife Amber and Amanda Langford and husband Nathan; 12 great grandchildren: Wesley, Nathan, Micah, Evelyn, Ulric, Ryker, Kolbie, Makaela, Maverick, Jaxson, Katelynn and Dillon and 5 great-great grandchildren: Reagan, Rilynn, Easton, Peyton and Tate.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Marquez Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Marquez Cemetery. A visitation with family will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 6-8 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.
