Era Jim
Sandifer
Nov 4, 1929 — Mar 12, 2020
Era Jim Sandifer Cazey, age 90, entered peacefully into heaven on March 12, 2020. She is now free from sorrow, disappointment, sin and death as promised her when she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. (Revelation 21:3-4)
Celebration of Life services are pending and under the direction of McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.
Ms. Sandifer was born on November 4, 1929 and was the great joy of her parents, James Olin (Jim) Sandifer and Era Mae McCormick Sandifer. Named for both parents, Era Jim was an only child and was happy being surrounded by family, farm animals and pets. At eleven years of age, her mother passed away.
After the death of her mother, Era Jim lived with her father, Jim Sandifer and later with her father, along with her Aunt Mollie McCormick Sandifer and Uncle Will Sandifer (former Robertson County Sheriff). Her aunt and uncle helped raise her as their own and greatly influenced her life. Era Jim attended Owensville School and Franklin High School where she played basketball and graduated in 1947.
After graduation, Era Jim worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was married twice; to Eli George Trivett and to Jack Cazey. She happily served Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church as church secretary and pianist.
Ms. Sandifer enjoyed retirement taking care of the farm and faithfully driving each day to the farm to feed feral cats. She especially loved her rescued cat, a Maine Coon cat named Smokey Joe and her late German Shepard dog, Luke Coe.
Era Jim Sandifer will be remembered as a witty, truthful, loyal and trusting person who was very direct and never minced words. Era Jim loved simple pleasures; driving her dad's old farm truck, red cars, the color purple, pickle loaf sandwiches, and good laughs with friends at Doris' Place, The Longbranch and The Nugget.
Nurses Case Management of Austin, Texas was entrusted with Ms. Sandifer's care for the past eight years. Era Jim was greatly loved, cared for with compassion and will be missed by her caregivers Nida Davis, Nollie Zwiefelhofer, Lorna Lecaros, and Beverly Simmons, Virgie Gay, Janelle Holtzclaw, Julie Wills and the administrative staff Debbie Pearson, Nova Adler, and Stancey Spencer. Special thanks to her faithful hairdresser, Diane Burke.
Ms. Sandifer is survived by friends, cousins and her beloved pet, Smokey Joe.
Because of Ms. Sandifer's great love and devotion to animals, memorials may be made to RCVS-Urgent Animals (no kill shelter) at 3206 Highway 6 South, Hearne, Texas 77859.
