Emma Baldwin Miertschin entered her heavenly home on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 92.
Emma was born December 21, 1932, in Seale, Texas, to James Earl and Mozelle (Trixie) Baldwin. She grew up in Seale and graduated from Marquez High School in 1949. She moved to Houston and completed Elliott Business School. She married the love of her life, John Ernst Miertschin on June 16, 1951, in Houston, Texas. In 1959, they relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana with Folger's Coffee.
Emma had a loving heart and was a friend to many. Her family meant everything to her. Emma stayed active as a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Orleans and an avid tennis player at the Lake Forest Racquet Club in New Orleans for many years. Emma loved sharing the farm with her friends and going to the farm to work or play.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Earl and Mozelle (Trixie) Baldwin; husband of 63 years, John E. Miertschin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Elwell; brothers, James Whit Baldwin and Joe Earl Baldwin; sisters-in-law, Clara Baldwin and Maxine Baldwin.
Emma is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Miertschin Fortier of Slidell, Louisiana and Kimberly Miertschin Elwell and son-in-law, William Jeffrey Elwell of Katy; grandchildren: Laine Orser (Richard), David Elwell (Arianna), Lauren Young (Nick) and Emma Murray (Luke). She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Sutter Orser, Knox Young, and Richard Orser, Jr., her sister, Mabel McCullough (Mackie Lee); brother, John C. Baldwin; cousin, Eva Jo Lanier and, many nieces and nephews.
Services for Emma Baldwin Miertschin will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with a visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas. Jimmie McCullough presiding. A burial will follow where she will be laid to rest in the Seale Round-Prairie Cemetery in Seale, Texas. David Elwell, Luke Murray, Richard Orser, Nick Young, James Chandler, Ricky McCullough and Andrew Chandler will serve as pallbearers.
