Eleanor Best Daugherty entered Heaven's gates peacefully, on the early morning of Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 95.  She was born on May 2, 1929, in Frankin, Texas to her parents, Robert Miller Best and Mittie I. McNutt Best.

Eleanor was born and raised in Franklin and was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School.  She married her husband, Elbie Wesley Daugherty on September 18, 1948, in Houston, Texas.  Eleanor was employed with Exxon Mobil for over forty years before her retirement.  Later in life, she moved back to Franklin to spend the rest of her years.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mittie Best, her husband Elbie Daugherty, sisters, Sybil Webb and Dorothy Tynes, brothers, Lavearl Moss and Charles E. Best.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Nancy Gunselman of Franklin, and her only living sister and brother, Carole Daugherty and Robert K. Best.  She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Kristie Grubbs and husband Jason and Delanna Gunselman and husband Nate Gamble and her great grandchildren: Weston Grubbs, Braxton Grubbs, Harrison Grubbs, Peyton Gamble, Parker Gamble and Charley Gamble.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery 6900 Lawndale Street Houston, Texas 77023 with Pastor Jimmy Sanders officiating. There will be a viewing from 12:30 P.M. until service time.
