Eddie Gaylon Rinehart
Aka "Meanest Man in Booger County"

Eddie Gaylon Rinehart, (the self-professed Meanest Man in Booger County) was born on December 4, 1926 the youngest of 3 children of Eddie Alonzo "Lonnie" Rinehart and Martha Ann Stanford Rinehart in Headsprairie, Texas outside Kosse, Texas.
On January 10, 2012, he breathed his last breath and went home to his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his father Eddie A. "Lonnie" Rinehart, his mother Martha Ann Stanford Rinehart and his brother Hulon Mike Rinehart.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Gunter Rinehart, sister Lana Glendell Rasco, Daughters and sons-in-law Gayla and Gene Tuttle of Plano, Texas, Laura and Ed Boswell of Strong, Arkansas, and son Mike Rinehart and Laura Toups of Austin, Texas. Five grandchildren: Tray Boswell, Genie Boswell Langston, Jason Boswell, Johnson Rinehart and Jeff Rinehart. One great-granddaughter: Anna Grace Langston.
After graduation from Kosse High School in 1943, he entered the U. S. Army and was among the first troops to land in Korea. After the Army, he returned to Kosse where he met and on June 14, 1947, married Carolyn Ruth Gunter.
In 1950, he became Ranch Manager of the Double Circle Ranch near Camp Creek Lake and moved to Robertson County with Ruth and their 5 month old daughter Gayla Carol.
In 1962, they bought the Franklin Tailor Shop and they packed up a borrowed feed truck and moved the whole family to Beverly Hills, oops Franklin, Texas. In 1963, he was appointed Postmaster in Franklin by President John F. Kennedy. He retired in 1993 after 30 years of service to the U. S. Postal Service.
Over the years, he owned and operated other businesses in Franklin as well. Including, but not limited to the Western Auto, a TV repair business, and the Gulf Station on Highway 79. Before, during and after all those businesses, he was a farmer and rancher.
He was involved in his community in many capacities over the years and was active in many civic organizations, including but not limited to: Franklin Baptist Church, American Legion Honor Guard, Franklin Lions Club, Franklin Little League and until he entered the Franklin Nursing Home in 2003, was frequently honored as 'fan of the year' by many Franklin athletic teams.
The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers from the Franklin Nursing Home and St. Joseph's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Hospice Brazos Valley or a charity of your choice (especially if it is for children athletics).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11 am at the Franklin Baptist Church, Reverend Jim Manning officiating. Visitation with the family will be in the Fellowship Hall of Franklin Baptist Church immediately following the service. Cremation arrangements by McCauley Funeral Home.
