Obituary

Dorothy Alleen Bolton Perkins

September 21, 1926 – October 13, 2021

Dorothy Alleen Bolton was born on September 21, 1926, on a farm on Rural Route 2 in Franklin, Texas to parents Horace and Elsie Sitz Bolton. She just celebrated her 95th birthday 3 weeks ago.

She was the 2 nd of 4 sisters (after Oleta and before Ramona and Billie) and grew up in New Baden, Texas before attending Franklin High School, where she graduated in 1944. She went on to work in Dallas and Hearne, Texas before she married Victor Lewis Perkins of Ridge, Texas in 1946. They had 3 children, Victor Lewis, Jr, Ruston Allen, and Valerie Susan Perkins Wagner. She also raised one of her grandchildren, Larry Don Anderson, Jr as her own.

Her husband Lewis preceded her in death in 1990, as did her sister Ramona Anita Corn in 1970 and sister Oleta Merryman in 2004.  She is survived by one sister (Billie Meadors), 3 children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During her 95 years she was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered as a librarian at the Carnegie Library in Franklin, Texas for 10 years and also served as Chief "Fallen Leaf" of the Texas Lumbee Tribe of Native Americans in Robertson County.

Her favorite hymns and songs were "If I Have Wounded Any Soul", "Beyond the Sunset", "Whispering Hope", "When They Ring Those Golden Bells", "I Come to the Garden Alone", as well as "Precious Memories" by Jim Reeves.   When she was younger, she played the guitar and sang, and she loved to attend New Baden Jamborees. Her many talents also included painting, working as a seamstress, and creating all manner of intricate crafts.

She was a bright light in this world for almost a century and fought through dementia and covid-19 to make it to her 95 th birthday, which is a testament to how tough she was. She is now in a better place and has gone to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

There will be a graveside service to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00PM at Franklin Cemetery, 804 Owensville St, Franklin, Texas.
