Obituary

Donna Lynn Adams entered eternal rest on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the age of 71.  She was the first-born child to Clynce D. "Bud" Adams and Lucy Clara Harris Adams on November 11,1953 in Franklin, Texas.

Donna, who was also known to many as "Sissy," was a 1972 graduate of Sam Houston High School and a 1984 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.  She worked briefly for the First National Bank in Franklin before becoming an employee for the Texas Department of Health and Human Resources where she worked for more than 25 years before her retirement. After retiring from the State, Donna continued working and became employed with Franklin ISD as a substitute teacher. Donna was life-time resident of Franklin and a member of the First Baptist Church, Calvert, Texas.

Donna was a devoted Christian, and her faith guided her throughout her life. She loved God and was always willing to give back to him, staying active in her church, regularly helping and volunteering to meet needs until her failed health kept her from doing so.  Donna also loved her family deeply.  She helped take care of her father, Bud until his death and shared a special bond with her sister, Susan, losing their mother at a young age.  Although Donna never had any children, her nieces, nephew and little cousins were just like her own. She supported them in all their endeavors and made it known how proud she was of each of their achievements. They were all very special to her and loved them so very much. One of Donna's favorite things was enjoying spending time with her family creating memories at Garner State Park on the Frio River and watching her family participate in sports. She was a Franklin Lion and University of Texas Football fan always ready to watch or listen to a game.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Donna will remember her kind and genuine nature.  She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, church family and her community but we take comfort in knowing she is now with her Lord that she loved and served until her untimely death, and we will cherish her memory forever.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Lucy Adams, her grandparents, Wilbur and Wilma Adams and Dona P. and Millie Harris, and uncle, Dona E. Harris.

Donna is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jacky Hancock of Franklin, niece, Hannah Hancock of Franklin, nephew, Cody Hancock and wife Katie of Franklin, great nieces, Ellie, Ramsey and Rhett Hancock.  She is also survived by aunts, Sebie Harris and Melva McBride, uncle, Bobby Adams and a host of cousins and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 506 Elm Street Calvert, Texas.  Chris Lange will officiate.  A visitation will take place on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. A burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church P.O. Box 65 Calvert, Texas 77837 or to the Franklin Cemetery Association P.O. Box 215 Franklin, Texas 77856.
