Donald Marvin Baxter entered eternal life and joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the age of 77 years after a long illness. He was born on March 2, 1946 in Hearne, Texas to his parents, Marvin and Pearl Ingram Baxter.
Don was a 1964 graduate of Franklin High School. He married his loving wife, Sandra Franklin on March 7, 1978. Don was employed with Hughs Tools in Conroe for 39 years as a machinist and supervisor until his illness kept him from working. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 20 years previously living in Houston. He was of the Methodist faith.
Don grew up in Franklin and then moved away but returned to retire and raise cattle. He loved spending time at the family farm in the country. Family was of the upmost importance to Don and he loved them whole heartedly. He had a calm and quiet demeanor about him and never held a grudge. He will be truly missed by his family and friends but will remain in their hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Pearl Baxter; sisters, Martha Jean Raham and Pamela Elston; brother, Thomas Baxter and his son, Billy Franklin.
Don leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Sandra Baxter of Franklin; daughters, Tracey Baxter Swift and husband Bo of Las Vegas, Nevada and Catherine Franklin Escobedo and husband Larry of Pasadena; sister, Dorothy Pertle of Caldwell; grandchildren: Obadiah King, J.W. Jackson, Rachel Jackson and Hannah Jackson; great grandchild, J.J. Jackson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin. Jimmy Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
