Don Perry VanHuss, 77, of Franklin, Texas passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 in College Station, Texas. He was born on July 31, 1937 in Pampa, Texas to George and Erma Cadenhead VanHuss. He attended McLean High School. Mr. VanHuss served in the United States Navy. He received his certification in firefighting. He was employed with the Amarillo Fire Department for 20 years. He then began teaching at the Texas A&M Fire School for several years before becoming the Fire Chief for the Bryan Fire Department for 3 years. He then became employed with General Telephone for 12 years before his retirement. He married Shirley Sherrell on May 4, 1984. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 25 years previously living in Bryan. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the McCauley Funeral Chapel in Franklin. Rev. Jimmy Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
