Delton "D.B." Weir passed away peacefully at his home in Bald Prairie on Friday, October 1 st surrounded by family. He was born in Bald Prairie on February 2, 1930 to mother Eula Dickey Weir and father Zeal Weir. He had two older siblings, Glendon and Gladys. Delton had a great love for Bald Prairie and spending time in the outdoors—hunting, fishing and tending to his cattle. He was also the caretaker of the Bald Prairie Cemetery for 30 faithful years, along with his wife Patti, and was a longtime member of the Bald Prairie Church of Christ.

Delton attended seven grades at the Bald Prairie School and received his high school diploma from Franklin High School in 1947. As a teenager, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Ord, California and Fort Riley Kansas. After he finished out his enlistment, and processed out, Delton made his home in Houston and went to work for Western Electric as a telephone equipment installer. He married Edith Davis in September 1950 and was recalled to service the following month.

During this time, he was shipped to Korea, where he experienced heavy shelling between December 13 th and the 23 rd of 1950. In June 1951, he was shipped back to Seattle, via Japan, and made his way back to Fort Hood, where he processed out and was released from active duty.

Delton and Edith had two daughters, Deborah and Pamela, and made their home in Houston, with a brief stay in Missouri, where he continued to work for Western Electric.

Delton's wife Edith passed away on February 9, 1972 after a battle with cancer. He married Patti Lou Norman on October 6, 1972 in Houston. Delton and Patti had two daughters—Deidre and Stephanie—and continued to live in Houston until moving to Bald Prairie in 1981 upon his retirement from Western Electric after 31 years of employment. Deidre and Stephanie grew up in Bald Prairie and graduated from Franklin High School.

Delton is survived by wife, Patti Weir and daughters, Deidre Black and Stephanie Averill and husband William Averill. He is also survived by son-in-law Charlie Burke, who was married to the late Deborah Weir Burke. Delton is also survived by grandchildren  James Rexrode, Shelby Titus, Aidan Diaz and Natalie Diaz, and niece Karen Villareal and husband Albert Villareal.
