Delbert Clayton "Dale" Marriott was born on April 17, 1946, in Versailles, Missouri to parents, William Clayton Marriott and Rosy Bell Foxworthy Marriott. He entered eternal life with family by his side on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the age of 79.
Dale received his education in Missouri and then attended GM and dealership school. He was employed as a mechanic and was owner and operator of B&D Garage and wrecking for 53 years before his retirement. After retirement, Dale enjoyed spending his time ranching. Dale was a resident of Franklin for the past 53 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Dale married his loving wife, Mary Currie Winstead June 26, 2015, in New Baden, Texas. Together, Dale and Mary had a second chance at love becoming soul mates and spending over 10 years of wedded bliss. Dale was always active in his children's endeavors and enjoyed coaching his kid's little league teams over the years as well as winning several championships. Dale was an avid NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt as well. In his early years, he was a licensed NASCAR driver racing in California. Dale leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of all that knew him and they find comfort in knowing that he is at peace and no longer suffering from his earthly illness.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosy Marriott; wife, Helen Marriott; brother and sister-in law, Mike and Karen Marriott; brother, Phillip Marriott; sister, Carolyn Marriott; sisters-in-law, Becky Lynn Marriott and Becky Jo Marriott and his stepdaughter, Tammie Carney.
Dale is survived by his wife, Mary Winstead Marriott of Franklin, his children: Tonya and Ben Arevalo of Bryan, Tammy and Bruce Turner of Snook, Tim Marriott of Franklin, Terry and Martha Marriott of Franklin, Pam Minter and Shane Turner of Ridge, Eddie and Ida Winstead of Marquez, Fred and Sherry Winstead of Ridge, Joey and Ramona Winstead of Kosse and Brian and Molly Winstead also of Ridge. He is also survived by his sister, Jeannie Tidwell of Montgomery; brothers, Billy Marriott of Destin, Florida and Bobby Marriott of Wheelock; grandchildren: Michael Arevalo, Amber Arevalo, Alicia Arevalo, Byron Turner, Ethan Turner, Erica Acfalle, Tim Acfalle, Justin Marriott, Brandi Marriott, Landon Marriott, Kristin Marriott, James Edward Winstead, Steven Winstead, Levi Winstead, Jared Winstead, Ryan Winstead, JJ Murphey, Joseph Murphey, Nicholas Winstead, Chelsea Minter-Brindley, Christopher Carney, Zachary Carney; great grandchildren: Peyton, Luke, A.J., Malachi, Chris, Abriana, Wyatt, Isabel, Brent, Camden, Raith, Roman, Kyle, Ivy and many step great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, Texas. Lee Caldwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Marriott Family Cemetery (5350 Red Rock Road Franklin, Texas). The family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
The Marriott family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers, Mary Narro and Beth Horn along with Concho Hearts Hospice for the exceptional care given to Dale through his illness.
