Obituary

Daniel Arnold Currie, age 96, went to be with his Lord and Savior, May 14, 2014 in Groesbeck, Texas. Mr. Currie was born in Ridge, Texas to Daniel C. and Mary Ethel Smith Currie on August 31, 1917.
Mr. Currie was preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy-three years, Edna Mae Dryman Currie and two infant sons, Chris and Billy, two adult sons, Kenneth Wayne Currie and Richard Arnold Currie, two adult daughters, Amanda Jane Currie Cantrell, and Sandra Kay Currie Bell. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Minnie Rose Johnston, Mary Elizabeth Palmer, William Earl Currie, Carl C Currie, James Curtis Currie and Clarence Lee Currie.
Mr. Currie is survived by his children, Betty Joan Cole and husband Frank of Sugar Land, Edna Janice Roberts and husband Pete of Normangee, Patricia Ann Plaisance of Baytown, Marilyn Joyce Lester and husband Harvey of Lake Kiowa, Terry Lee Currie and wife Casey of Houston, John Kevin Currie and wife Tammy of Franklin, Danny Alton Currie of Bald Prairie and Lisa Michelle Cope of Houston and last but not least, his sister, Ethel Leona Petty. Mr. Currie is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Currie was a life-long resident of Ridge, Texas where he and his wife Mae raised twelve children.
Mr. Currie was a mechanic by trade and worked the majority of his career for Carlton Hicks and Rex Robinson in Franklin. Mr. Currie served his country in the U.S. Army in the 222nd Field Artillery Battalion in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre.
He loved hunting, fishing and trapping, although, his favorite things to do were visiting with his children, family, and friends; playing dominoes and cards at his home or around a campfire.
If a man's success in life is measured not by the money he made, rather by the love and respect of his family, friends and neighbors, then he was truly a successful man.
Love you Pa, we'll miss you.

Service will be held on Saturday,May 17,2014 at 2:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas. Burial will follow in the Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
