Obituary

Charlie Alva Whatley, 79, of Franklin, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Temple, Texas. He was born on December 27, 1933 in Sugar Land, Texas to Alva White Whatley and Jane Blasdel Whatley. He was a graduate of Lamar High School and Sam Houston State University. Mr. Whatley was a U.S. Veteran serving during a non-war period in Germany. He married Jessie Loudeen Horton on July 1, 1961 in Houston, Texas. He was employed with the Texas Department of Corrections for 25 years before his retirement in 1980. Mr. Whatley had been a resident of Franklin for the past 33 years previously living in Sugar Land, Texas. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Patrick Lodge #359 Franklin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Walter Whatley.
He is survived by:

Wife – Lou Whatley of Franklin
Daughters and Sons-in-law –
Liz and Vic Tumlinson of Orlando, Florida
Becky and Dan McMillan of Sugar Land

4 Grandchildren – Jordon Sweatt, Trevor Tumlinson,Nathan McMillan and Haley McMillan

Services are scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Franklin United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Morton Cemetery in Richmond, Texas. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 4-6 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.

Donations may be made in Charlie Whatley's name to the American Cancer Society or to the Franklin United Methodist Church.
