Charles Ottis Smith, a beloved husband, father and Paw, left his earthly home and entered his eternal home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 83.  He was born on August 19, 1942, in Marlin, Texas to parents, Russell and Lois Stark Smith.

C.O., as he was known to many, grew up in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School.  He married his wife, Nelda Boring on February 1, 1965, and together shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.  C.O. was employed with Alcoa in Rockdale, Texas for many years before his retirement and was a life-long resident of Franklin.

C.O. was a loving husband, dad and Paw and his proudest accomplishment was his family.  He enjoyed working with the youth and was very active on the Go Texan Committee at the Robertson County Fair for many years. C.O. also enjoyed being on the water and could be found in his spare time on Lake Limestone boating and pulling anyone that wanted to ski. He also loved working in his garden.  He will always be remembered for his kindness and warm smile to any that crossed his path.

C.O. is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lois Smith and his 3 brothers, Howard Smith, Hubert Smith and A.D. Smith.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Nelda Smith of Franklin; sons, Chuck Smith and wife Kayla of Franklin and Kevin Smith and wife Abby of Salt Lake City, Utah; 10 grandchildren: Samantha, Colter, Brooke, Garrett, Joe, Kamber, Addy, Emry, Cjaye and Holter.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Lane, Hardy, Riley and Rainee.

The family of C.O. Smith would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life honoring C.O. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.  Jimmy Reagan will officiate.
