Cathie Holmes passed away in Franklin, TX, on Dec. 2 ^nd , 2020.  She was born Lucy Catherine Lakovich on April 28 ^th , 1945 to Dorothy Isabella Edwards Lakovich and Sam Joseph Lakovich in Galveston, TX.  She was part of the baby boomer generation which followed the return of troops, her father included, from WWII.  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic all girl school her elementary and middle school years and graduated from Ball High School in 1963.  She went on to enroll in North Texas University in Denton, TX, to become a teacher but fate had other plans when she met the love of her life, Jerry DeWayne Holmes on October 31, 1964, their first date.  They were wed on April 24 ^th , 1965, and enjoyed 50 years together prior to his death in 2015.  Cathie was known for her love of her soulmate Jerry, her children, grandchildren, her strong will and the reality TV show The Voice.  She was also a surrogate mother to many of those known as the YaYas. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her in-laws, Marvin and Pat Holmes.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth 'Lyn' Holmes Scott and son in law, Vernon; son Matthew J Holmes and daughter in law, Natalie; grandson Brant Scott and grand-daughter in law Jenna; grand-daughter Emma Holmes, grandson Ethan Holmes and great grandsons, Turner and Barron Scott.

There will be a private family graveside service on Saturday, Dec. 5 ^th .  Please donate to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
